OOJAH's AWESOME ODYSSEY

Great Abaco Island is the most Northerly of the Bahamas lying just to the East of Grand Bahama. There's an almost continual line of reefs & Cays running North South around 5nm to the East of Great Abeco which creates a shallow sheltered passage, The Sea of Abaco, all the way up the coast until you reach the North Bahamas Bank. We visited some very attractive places from Little Harbour in the South, Hope Town (by ferry), Marsh Harbour, Man o' War Cay, & Great Guiana, with Treasure Cay & Green Turtle Cay still to come. With depths between 1 & 3 metres we could not get everywhere & have had to anchor outside at times but it's all worked so far other than C falling in while getting out of the dinghy for lunch. Before you ask the iPad & iPhone survived this time, oh & she's fine! Bravely she continued to have lunch in a lovely beech bar while drying out - appropriately called Pete's Bar.
I don't like to mention that we're very aware we're going North towards the winter. It's now going below 70C at night & we've had to get a blanket out. We're also now subject to more fronts coming down the US East coast but they are well forecast. The people here are delightful, always welcoming & helpful. Although the whole area is only sparsely populated, now we're near the States, there's more 'upmarket' 2nd homes in evidence making a huge contrast to where we've come from. There are also fewer cruising boats than in the Exuma's & we haven't seen a European yacht for weeks.
The clock is now counting down to our crossing to Florida & the end of the lovely clear turquoise waters - oh dear what are we doing?
