The wind has eased a bit over the last week & we had a relaxing sail North from Isle de Saints to Malendure half way up the leeward side of Guadeloupe. Half a mile offshore is Pigeon Island site of the 'Reserve Cousteau', an outstanding location for diving & snorkelling. We were lucky with the weather & took the dinghy out to snorkelling & were treated to an amazing display of coral & marine life. Christene's belly flop back into the inflatable was interesting!
We then pottered up to Deshaies, a very sheltered anchorage with an attractive village on the NW corner of Guadeloupe. We'd hoped to stock up on French specialities but the village Spar did not have much to offer. We now sail 45 nm further North to Antigua so there's much apprehension as to the wind & swell we can expect although the outlook is promising. We then meet up with Gordon & Carol before flying home for 10 days to catch up with family & friends.
