Sunday 1st October. Kauehi, Tuamotus.

Waiting for a lull to get the genoa down. The wind drops to 17kn for short periods tempting me out on deck but blasts back up to 24  in short shrift.  I went out for my early morning swim but was blown back down the companionway for a cup of tea and lie in.

The anchor windlass remote has suffered the same fate as the previous remote- water has got inside and corroded a connection which is too delicate to re-attach. I should be storing the remote inside on passages but keep forgetting- I did think this one looked more waterproof, but sadly not. At least this is relatively shallow here for hand retreival.

The forecast suggests tuesday could be the best bet for onward travel. I am monitoring tide heights -the pass exit is supposed to be safest between high water and 2 hours after high water and
1hr either side of low water according to the cruising guide.
