The San Blas islands look as good in real life as they do in the travel books.   We are currently anchored off a reef in between two islands with azure waters, white sand beaches and palm trees.    There are a few other boats in the anchorage but it is so large we all have our own space.  There are no bugs, we’ve had some rain so the decks are now free of salt, there’s wind so Whizz is working and we have power, there’s sun, there’s snorkelling ..... yes, it really is paradise!    We’ve seen lots of rays including some huge manta rays which are magnificent and so graceful with their vast wing span.    As yet, no basking sharks but it’s early days.

We have managed to meet up with Carango and catch up with Peter and Vicky after a 20 year gap and Richard and Trish Morris after, we think, a 30 year gap (we’re not counting the fleeting ‘hello’ in Bristol at a charity function as a proper meeting!).   We had coffee on board with Ocean Rainbow banana muffins, a tour of the yacht which is so spacious and a wonderful yacht for their Round the World adventure and then we met up again in the evening for sundowners on Ocean Rainbow and then dinner on Carango.   All in all a wonderful ‘catch up’ session.   They have now moved on but we are able to enjoy the islands for a while longer yet.
