A day in Atlantic City, where we anchor up a very shallow creek marked with wayward withies, is enough for us. A one boardwalk wonder of haves and have nots. We do have a lovely lunch in a brewery pub though and it is a geat place to buy cheap knickers!
After we negotiate out of the mashes we motorsail down the coast with giant grey bottle nose dolphins plopping all around and even spy a huge leatherback turtle drifting by.
There is foul weather a foot so we spend one night at anchor in the entrance to Cape May harbour then pop into the South Jersey Marina for a couple of nights.
Cape May is a charming little town, all colourfully gingerbreaded villas and twee cottage gardens. There is a great locals pub near the marina and excellent marine shops. The boat gets a much needed oil change and we settle in for the blow. 60knts through the rigging but at least we are protected a little by the large motor boat outside us. As much as it is nice to have onshore access and all the mod cons, unfortunately we really can’t afford the $120/night bill so time to hit the water again.
