The Caves - Treasure Point, Norman Island

We were in two mind whether we were going to sail today or not. The girls were voting for a day by the pool and soon had their towels out on the sun beds. (A little trick they learnt from the Germans!).

Andy and Ron were off on Ron's boat inspecting it and making sure it will be ready for his next visit in March. They got back at 10.30 eager to go out sailing again so it was back to the boat and we made it ready to go to sea. Andy then announced that Ian was to be skipper for the day a new experience for him to get the boat out and then back into the berth.

We set off without a problem until Nico decided to drop one of the fenders overboard as he took it in so Andy decided to go and retrieve it in the dingy. Once we had it back on board we set of across the bay to Norman Island. Ron had promised the boys one of the best snorkelling spots in the Caribbean so expectations were high.

We arrived at Treasure point and pulled up on one of the buoys right in front of the caves. Soon everyone was in the water exploring the wild life. The highlight was when Ron produced a loaf of French bread and threw it in to attract some fish. Immediately there were hundreds of fish off the back of the boat surrounding everyone in the water. The fish are very colourful and the coral all shapes and sizes. With the water crystal clear this was certainly a fantastic experience. We were later joined by a sea turtle off the back of the boat which enhanced our aquatic sea life adventure.

Lunch was served up by Bab's, Chicken Korma, still left over from the Atlantic trip. and we were then treated to a family Nickson diving competition off the front of the boat. Yes even Andy participated!! They tried their hardest to get Jason to dive but unfortunately he has yet to succeed.

Rory and Frazer were given their first rowing lesson in the dingy by dad and were then allowed to venture off alone taking it in turns to row around the boat. They both got the knack of it very quickly, Steve Redgrave watch out!

We set of around the point into The Bight so that we could have a drink on the famous Willy-T boat bar that is anchored there. This is clearly a favourite of party goers who visit the area as there are a lot of pictures of naked bodies jumping off the top deck surrounding the bar! After a few drinks Jason was first to make the jump soon followed by Rory and Frazer. The highlight was Nico's white bum flying past the bar as he went for the naked plunge!

This rounded off a great day and we set off back to Nanny Cay as the sun went down. We were not sure who was more nervous as we pulled onto the berth, Ian who was driving the boat in for the first time or Andy who had handed over the helm to him?! It could have been an expensive lesson to get wrong. All went very smoothly though and parking lesson number 1 was successful.
