Back at sea after a relaxing day in the beachtown of Figueira da Foz. A sleepy town popular with Portuguese vacationers and known for it’s incredible city beach. Easily the widest beach I have ever seen. Nearly the entire coast of Portugal is lined with perfect unspoiled beach, but here in Figueira it is unusual because it is several hundred meters wide, and thus a long walk from the street out to the surf.

We spent the day yesterday just relaxing in the sun, eating ice cream, and doing little else. We also got some pointers from a deep-sea fisherman, so one of these days we plan to catch our first big fish with our new trolling rod and super special lure. Smilefjes

Today we got off to a slow start, and are now motorsailing (very light wind) southwards to a marina in Peniche, before continuing on to Caiscais tomorrow. Cascais is just outside of Lisbon, and we will stay in Cascais and visit Lisbon by train instead of sailing all the way in to the city. We will also here meet up again with Vibeke who sailed the first leg across the North Sea to Scotland with us, and who will now join us to Morocco and across to the Canary Islands.
