There’s been a fair bit of drama in the afternoon of day one in the NOMAN Barcelona to Ibiza race. The crews are required to go around a waypoint slightly off the straight-line course between Barcelona and Ibiza. This ensures that they are a reasonable distance away from many of the commercial vessels that frequent the route. Shortly before the waypoint, team Danielle reported a problem with their satellite phone which was replaced by the support yacht so they are now thankfully back up to full operating capacity.
Isabel who were slightly further behind earlier in the day have started to claw back the deficit and at the waypoint were under 11 minutes behind race leaders Danielle. Isabel continue to move up on Danielle eating into their narrow lead.
As the sun starts it’s descent in the sky the crews will be tucking into their evening meals with extra vigour having expended more than 5000 kCals during today’s activities.
