Agna, Richard and their 2 kids Will and Sam arrived in Vava’u, capital of the Kingdom of Tonga during the beginning of June to help us reach the Fiji islands. We still had a full week to enjoy the beautiful Tonga before leaving though : we went from amazing bays to beautiful caves. The snorkeling is breathtaking there, and the waters turquoise blue. Bizarrely, during this time, we lost a lot of things which fell  into the water (caps, lamps, towels…), but Richard always managed to find everything with his mask and tuba… and his diving skills…

We were very disappointed not to meet the king of Tonga, and all our hopes to marry his son to Marguerite were swept away. It’s Ok, we’ll try another kingdom.

We left Vava’u with 20 knots of wind, knowing that it would be worst the day after. As soon as we entered open ocean, the boat started to move so much in the 5 meters waves that a part of the crew couldn’t resist… Again, our wonderful Mercalm, as well as our very good knowledge of sea sickness management (Marguerite and I successfully passed our PHD during the cruise), allowed our friends to get some relief (well, a kind of relief…). Sam and Will deserve the award of the best sailors, category under 10 years old. They were absolutely perfect ; Bravo to all the family actually, it was really brave to come along with us into the adventure…

So, after 3 nights and 4 days of sailing, we reached Savusavu, a small city located on Vanua Levu, the north island of the 2 main Fiji Islands. People are just adorable and we spent  4 very pleasant days there.

Bye bye to our Hawaian friends, on their way to Brisbane to join Richard’s Australian family.
