We enjoyed our 10 day stay in the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club in Los Angeles and were made to feel very welcome by all the club members.  

As always you have to leave and this departure was particularly difficult, as we were leaving our very good friends Steve and Vicki on Tango.  Hopefully, they will be following in our ‘footsteps’ later in August, so as we say ‘until our paths cross again’; we will miss you both and Chesterrrrr too!

We finally squeezed out of our extremely tight slip with the help of Steve and Vicki and a boat hook and departed Marina Del Rey around 0600!.   As we exited the breakwater we headed into an uncomfortable swell which lasted most of the day.  Good job I had taken some Stugeron!  

We sailed in misty conditions most of the way up the coast, but after 50nm we were back into some dramatic mountain scenery.  The wind piped up to a 15NW, but the seas calmed down to around a 1 metre swell.

We reached the Santa Barbara fairway buoy around 1800, so not a bad journey with some current against us.  As soon as we had tied up to the waiting dock at Santa Barbara Harbour, we rushed to the office to reserve our slip.  We were fortunate to get one, as it was their busiest weekend of the year (being July 4th), but we managed to secure the last but one (slip no’ B218).

We paid for one day ($1 per foot), as we wanted to check the weather forecast for rounding Point Conception before we committed to further night.
