We arrived in La Coruna at 2245. It was an interesting passage in to the marina. Seeing the formidable land of the Spanish coast on our port side, we had a beautiful setting sun to the West, as we sailed through lots of litle fishing boats. There were birds a plenty diving on to the water, trying to catch their supper. Jaimie spotted lots of little swimming crabs, so out came the net, but luckily for the crustacians Jaimie wasn't able to catch any of them.

From about 6 miles away from the marina the crew were getting really excited, they could see land, they could taste land, but not for long..... in came the fog. Thick, dense fog. Crew spirits plummeted as a watch was kept for green flashing lights, red flashing lights, and that eerie sound of fog horns, somewhere in the distance. Richard and Steve worked in perfect harmony helming and navigating, whilst Simon & Nigel were on watch on each side of the boat. As we got within 1/2 mile of the breakwater, the fog lifted and the crew were overjoyed to finally glimpse life on land.

After some remarkable parking by Richard, (have you tried to squeeze a 38ft yacht in to a hole big enough for a 32ft yacht?) the Owlers touched land and made a swift exit shore side to sample the local cuisine.

It was heard that a good night was had by one and all. The latest revellers to return to the Owl got in at Sunrise - no names mentioned eh boys........

And so it was Saturday.
It was not an easy task to wake the late night revellers. However they eventually hauled themselves out of their bunks, packed their bags and there was a tearful farewell on the pontoon to Jamie, Nigel, Simon and Steve, we wished them well on their journey back to England, and work (bad luck guys).

As for the Owl. Life on the ocean waves continues. Richard, Dawn, Sam and Nick are leaving on the next leg of the journey South. The boat is a much quieter place now but the merriment of the past week is still with us all and we know that the boys are with us in spirit.

We've just cast our lines and are heading on our way.

The Owl and the pussy cat went to sea in a beautiful pea green boat

Catch you later
