7 Dec – Still no dinghy

Although the dinghy has arrived, we can’t find a way to get to it. The boatyard itself is too full to let us pull up there for 5 minutes, and there is a tide issue. The marina next door that originally said no problem is now full as well. There are only a few places that can accommodate big fat cats!

Meanwhile, the plan to get the furler replaced has also gone awry. The marina in Fort Lauderdale where it was to be done said last week to ring a couple of days before to book a slip. We did that and have been told they are now full until January. Not sure what to do next, may be go back north to Cape Canaveral where there is a boatyard that can haul us before Christmas?? Not for a while though as we heard that a barge en route to Puerto Rico lost 25 of its containers. There is a shipping hazard warning for the next few days whilst they try to locate them, and a request not to travel between here and Cape Canaveral.

Meanwhile, our views east and west sum up life on the boat.  Beautiful Palm Beach homes one side, less beautiful oil refinery and container dock the other – including the barge that spilled its containers yesterday.
