Across the Gulf Stream again but this time the water was calm, the sun shone and we had to motor most of the way. Not at all like the very bumpy experience we had at Christmas with Max. Our destination was Cat Cay in the Bimini Islands. We arrived about 17.00 to the beautiful blue waters the Bahamas are famous for.

The Cat Cays (north and south) are named after the ‘cat line’ on a sailing boat –Nick has no idea what that is! North Cat Cay where we stayed has been a private island since Queen Victoria gave it to William Stuart in 1873 – for his services as the light keeper on the neighbouring Gun Cay. It is currently a private, member’s only island run by the Cat Cay Yacht Club.

We anchored near 4 other boats, 3 of which were also British, as of course were the Bahamas until 1973 although they remain in the Commonwealth.
