160 miles further south! We arrived here at about 16.00 after a horrible overnight sail that was so bumpy……. some good things too though:

- Mostly sailed at about 7.5 knots so little diesel consumption.

- One large Loggerhead turtle sighting.

- Our first flying fish since leaving the Bahamas 18mths ago. Sadly this one flew onto the deck during the night, to be discovered in the morning. Flying fish sandwiches are apparently the national dish of Barbados but we decided to bury it at sea instead.

- The sea is a beautiful blue again.

We have anchored at the mouth of the river that leads to Georgetown, the first recorded European settlement in 1526 (not continuously settled though, as we have already learned that is St Augustine, Florida). The view is of a beautiful tree lined shore that looks to be Cyprus, Live Oaks and finally an occasional palm tree. There are also alligators in the marshes, so no swimming to shore!
