This morning Benj's brother Noah and girlfriend Ella arrived, enroute from a holiday in Costa Rica. They are both starting PhDs here next month (Harvard and Cornell respectively).
Nick cycled to North Haven (referred to here as the village) and met up with Claude and Benj, Jethro and Olivia. The views on the way are beautiful. He also passed the North Haven Community School. It serves all ages and had 4 graduates this year. Next stop, Calderwood Hall. Originally it had some administrative purpose but is now a bakery, delicatessen, cafe, pizzeria and venue for evening entertainments. You can also hire bicycles from there.
Next, The Gift Shop currently celebrating its 60th year. It has always been owned and run by June Hopkins, now in her 90s. Then to Browns Marine Services to look for a through hull fitting for the solar wiring then back to the boat via the Presbyterian church where Jethro's mother Bici practices several mornings a week - on their better quality piano.
The Presbyterian church is most recent, having been built by and for the 'Summer People' also known by the locals as 'Trust Puppies' ! The Baptist church here is smaller and mostly attended by islanders. There is a third, Catholic church but it is now for sale as there are only 4 Catholics left on the island. Offers around $250K if you are interested.
