Hello from the SOUTH Pacific!! We have crossed the equator!

We had a nice night of wind last night from the right direction which was great. About midday today the wind died off so we have been motoring - much more relaxed motoring now, knowing that we have enough fuel to get us there.

Last night just as we were about to get organised for dinner we hooked into something really big - it took nearly all the line on Nicks rod and then snapped it just as quickly! No idea what it was but our favorite lure went with it which was a shame.

We saw a big whale today from a distance, we tried to go closer to get a better look but as we got nearer (about 200m away) it dived and we didnt see it again. Not sure what kind of whale but a big one. We had a few dolphins with us as well today which is always nice.

So this evening saw us crossing the equator! I wanted to wait to write the email until I knew we had done it! It was well timed so that at sunset we had our celebrations with sparkling wine, snacks, gifts to Neptune and a naked run around the boat! haha! Neither of us have been across the equator on a boat before so we couldnt have an acting 'Neptune' so we decided to just make it up on the spot. So we are now feeling very melow after finishing up the bottle of wine.

We think we will get into Galapagos on Sunday morning - just slowing down a bit now to time our arrival correctly.
