We had a pretty good night passage over to Aruba and arrived in good time to be able to spot the reefy bits as we headed in. We has a bit of a weird check in here as we had to go to the docks where the cruise ships come in. The immigration and customs people then come out to you – which is pretty nice!
We then headed over to the yard where we had booked to have the boat taken out the following morning. We got ourselves all sorted and had a good look around at what was to be our home for a couple of weeks before we were going to fly to…… we weren’t sure where yet….
After getting hauled out we got onto getting the boat packed up. Nick managed to get a couple of skype interviews for one job in Alaska and one in Hawaii. He ended up getting offered both so then the tricky part was deciding between the two – his wardrobe was better suited to Hawaii and there is surf there - so it was decided.
I had a trickier time finding work and planned to head back to the UK to spend some time with family before deciding my next move. We had decided that flying back via Florida was a good plan so we could have a good catch up with Nick’s family.
So after a couple of weeks in Aruba it was time for us to fly to Orlando. We had managed to fit in a bit of sightseeing and had explored the national park and even made friends with some locals and been out to a music festival.
