We are anchored between two beautiful islands in the middle of the Flores Sea. On the beach we can see the big boats that they are building here by traditional methods. We are looking forward to a closer look.
The "over night'er" down here was easy after first coming through the narrow sound west of Baubau. We aimed for slack water, but got 3.5 knots of current with us.
The previous anchorage at Panjang was nice and there was in fact no village, only a family living on the beach. They collected seaweed which was sold through an agent to Hong Kong. Their houses were of the simplest kind, but they were a happy bunch. One of the kids did, however, have a bad cut in the foot. Quite natural since there are broken bottles everywhere, curtesy of the Indonesian trash handling - throw it in the sea. We gave them some antibiotic cream and other medicines to treat the wound. The mother was very thankful.
We will post more about Bone Rate once we know more.
