Our current positon is anchored near Manta ray pass in the Yasawa Islands 17:10.302S 177:12.209E

We finally left Musket Cove on the 18th July and did a big day of 5NM and made it around the corner and anchored off Likuliku resort which unfortunately are not ‘cruiser friendly’ so we were not able to go ashore but did manage to get a snorkel in and we also found another Hunter yacht which is always very exciting.

Just another Superyacht anchored off Musket Cove

Sea Transport to the Resorts – Manamuka Islands

On the 19th we made it Navadra Island which has no villages and no resorts so quite remote but we did have 3 other yachts for company and had a lovely snorkel.

We are starting to work out how bad the charting is around here although the Navionics on the IPad seems to make a whole lot more sense than the Navionics on the chart plotter plus some of the other cruisers enlightened us about an app called Motion X which tracks the boat on google earth satellite so makes it much easier to see the reefs… so far we have come across reefs that don’t show up on charts and have islands charted that don’t exist so we are definitely taking things easy and making sure we do all our travel in good light.

From Nevadra we made it into the north bay at Waya Island which is the southern most of the Yasawa Islands.  We were planning on heading into the village to meet with the chief and partake in our first ‘Sevu Sevu’ ceremony which is basically the handing over of the Kava but decided to head off early on Wednesday morning as the easterly winds were making the anchorage a bit rolly.

We have made it across to Manta Ray Pass and have anchored on the western side of Drawaqa Island which is very scenic and we are hoping that we might get to have a snorkel with the manta rays but still trying to work out when they show up.  We did make it into the Manta Ray Island resort last night and enjoyed beer and pizza in their beach bar…..

We were also lucky enough to see the crew of another yacht being picked up by Sea Plane to get back to Nadi to catch their flight back to NZ.

Yacht pick up by Sea Plane – way to go!!!

At this stage there are no plans apart to keep heading north amongst the Yasawa Islands until we decide to turn south and head back towards Denaurau but not sure when that will be.
