Well we broke the fish drought, fried baby squid harvested from the deck were pretty tasty but very messy to prepare. The black ink inside them leaches everywhere and if you squeeze them wrong an eyeball explodes sending dark gunk 3 metres across the room.

I found five more squid, yesterday, mostly up on the coach roof. We have had no spray or wash up that high this trip so I guess they leap there all by themselves. I tried a couple as bait hooking them on to the lures we have been trolling, within an hour we had a nice dorado which we barbecued up for dinner.

Last night I was on watch an noticed that a piece of shiny paper had blown onto the floor inside the main cabin but I had no idea where it had come from. It made a rustling sound as it swirled around the floor in the breeze, hang on what breeze inside the cabin?, what shiny paper? A flying fish had come through the window, this lucky guy was rescued and has quite a story to tell.

Rods out this morning again and Asia battled something for ten minutes but we lost it because the hook straightened out.

Breeze has been on and off all night and remained slightly forward of the beam, we have maintained over five knots speed which is slow but progress nonetheless.

Overnight squid count 5, flying fish 3.
