Well we have wind but have been travelling about 30 degrees off course to the north, I'm hoping that the wind turns to come more from the east in the next day or so, last forecast I have is proving not that accurate but until I get an update its all we have to go on.

As I write this we are experiencing satellite phone /data issues and I have not been able to collect or send mail for the past 24 hours. Perhaps I forgot to pay the bill? The trouble with posting regular communications at sea is that when we can't, it would be easy to assume the worst from a shore based point of view. Don't worry, the most likely a scenario is us having electrical or equipment issues.

The spot tracker device seems to be working however it turns out that the particular one we were able to get hold of is not the latest model and does not automatically send position updates. So long as we remember to push the button it will work until of course we are out of the coverage area.

Seven baby squid boarded the ship in the dead of night however takeover attempts were thwarted due to mislaid plans. It appears that the commander failed to recognise the risk involved in entering a non marine environment, seven brave marines now adorn the deck, rapidly dehydrating in the sun. A couple of sea birds flew with us through the night swooping port and starboard around the spreaders and ducking forward now and then cutting close ahead of the bows, they are as big as a large gull but lighter in build than a booby, mostly white in colour and graceful flyers.
