The longer term forecast was for a period of strong winds from the West and South west so we needed to push on while we still had easterlies. Our next destination was Abbekas, west of Ystad. The passage was uneventful but when we arrived there was a certain amount of swell coming into the harbour. Our first attempt at tying up was too near the entrance and was much too rough so we went further in and got some shelter behind all the boats in boxes by going alongside near the fuel pontoon, which was much more peaceful, and we still had time to go ashore for a look round.

Ystad

This ferry missed us – just as well as the AIS indicated it was going at 38 knots

The pontoon on the right was the site of our first attempt at tying up

I never discovered the significance of the many statues of geese around the town

The rose bushes had huge rosehips
