We had to get up at 5.30 am to ensure a 6 o’clock start for the long sail to Bornholm, a Danish outpost on the way to Sweden. The morning was cloudy but the sun came out later and it warmed up a bit but the wind was always cold. We were able to sail most of the way without assistance from the engine and apart from sighting a fishing boat laying pots very little happened. We took it in turn to sleep and choose the music to play through the new speakers.

Leaving the pontoon while everyone else slept

Goodbye to Poland

We arrived at Nexo, a small harbour in the South East of Bornholm around 19:00 expecting the Danish style box moorings only to be thrown by finding Swedish style stern buoys, requiring some rapid re-rigging of the warps.  When Ted went ashore to the harbourmasters office it turned out to also have chandlery so he purchased a hook for attaching to stern buoys, which should make it easier in future.

South east corner of Bornholm – you can see the waves that were responsible for the angle!

There was live music playing on the quay for the customers at the nearby restaurants but we listened as we cooked on board and soon to bed with another early start tomorrow.
