It was planned that we would stay in Stralsund the following day and a tour of the historic town was planned. This was led by Nicholas, the rally leader, and proved a great success as he had a lot of information at his fingertips.

Listening as Nicholas points out something of interest

A lot of buildings have more front than back

views in the town

The group putting its best foot forward

Interesting combination of stone and brick

One of the old city gates

A memorial to the unification of the soldiers and the workers – I didn’t think the worker looked too enthusiastic!

There were a surprisingly large number of churches

We don’t know if there is a specific story behind this or just a bit of fun

After lunch we unpacked the Bromptons and headed for the supermarket. The cobbles provided a bit of a challenge, particularly with a plastic box full of beer and wine but we made it back safely and headed out again for another dinner organised at the Fischermans Restaurant. The menu and dining companions were different but it was another excellent evening. On our return we went for a drink on Nixe hosted by Simon and Sue, together with Nicholas. We were sitting in their cockpit but were admonished for making too much noise by Jeremy on the boat on the other side of their pontoon, so went to bed in anticipation of the early start the next day.

Nicholas’s turn to make a speech – I think it was instructions for the next day
