We left Soper’s Hole, Tortola just before lunch and the weather was just perfect and although we had to dodge the lots of charter boats who use the BVI’s as their base, the trip out around Jost Van Dyke was uneventful.
Just before dusk a large pod of dolphins, perhaps twenty or more crossed our bows. The younger dolphins some only five or so feet long were putting on their own display and for what they lacked in style they certainly made up for in energy jumping wildly out of the sea.
We are crossing the Puerto Rico Trench, the depths have reached 7000 metres and deeper is yet to come.  Without access to Wikipedia I can only guess this is probably the deepest part of the Atlantic.
Today we are going nowhere fast......averaging only 3kts in a very light breeze and 2m high cross swell......not very comfortable.
