OK, there’s a change of plan, we are going to ride this current (the South Equatorial Current) all the way to French Guiana.  So it is no longer a six day passage, probably now a ten day jaunt but due to Claire’s careful planning food stocks are good so we won’t starve.

We’ve had a lot of rain and in one vicious squally cloudburst we clocked 11.5 knots over the ground……just before the frenzy of reefing our mainsail in jets of warm horizontal rain…….we didn’t need a shower last night!

Dolphins have visited us a couple of times but apart from them and a few dead flying fish on our decks in the mornings there has been no other signs of life.  Our AIS shows shipping passing us but always too far away to be visible except one >1000 foot giant that we could see from 10NM.

We’ll be crossing the equator again this evening around dinner time (11pm in the UK) so it’ll be a good reason to enjoy a glass of wine........cheers!
