Moonstone of Aberdour

There has been a 2 knot current running with us for the last 24 hours and several times overnight our speed over ground exceeded 9.5 knots – Moonstone thought she was going supersonic!  The sea was relatively calm allowing a steadier life to return on board for a while but as we rounded Ponta de Itapage early this morning and entered shallower water the positive current faded away and we were left crawling along in a lumpy sea.

We have now headed back out to find a better breeze and current but unfortunately this has put us on a heading for French Guiana  ……..so we might be changing our plan on where to go to next…….but as the Ship’s Mistress is still asleep off watch that decision will have to wait a little longer.
