We spent a couple of days at Stonington spending time with good friends Erik and Flax before sailing onto Rockland Harbor the home of a substantial fleet of traditional windjammers, schooners that had plied these waters carrying lumber, granite and lime.  Rockland was a major producer of lime for the construction industry that built the cities of New York and Boston. Today it is still a significant producer of cement.
Rockland is an attractive town and is the home of the Farnsworth art gallery with a significant exhibition of American art......we really enjoyed it.
Today we sailed back to anchor in a tiny creek surrounded by a rocky shoreline covered in pine trees with only ospreys and seals for neighbours.
