I thought that turning the corner around Cuba’s western end would result in a glorious free ride on the Gulf Stream...........wrong!  The twists and turns of this mighty ocean current are baffling and I quickly began to regret not spending my dollars on an up to date current chart.

We slogged into a counter current for mile after mile and when the wind increased to Force 6 during the night the sea built itself into disproportionate heights making off watch sleep a near impossibility.

Now the US is tantalisingly close, the wind and seas have eased and the sun is shinning........we should arrive in Key West sometime tonight.
