After a short hop from Caba Cruz along Cuba’s ‘Jurassic Coast’ we anchored for tonight in the pretty lagoon at Marea del Portillo.  Shortly after we arrived the Guarda Frontera officer was rowed out to Moonstone in a tiny open boat by “Jordie” a 12 year old who the officer introduced to us as a “fish boy”.  The Officer was friendly and smart in his uniform and polished boats, spoke good English and had almost copperplate handwriting.

We will go ashore in the morning to forage for vegetables, fruit and if we are lucky, bread.  Our plan plan is to leave around 18:00 to sail overnight for Santiago de Cuba and arrive in daylight.
