After a couple of nights at anchor at Chesapeake City we sailed south west from the C&D canal and turned east up the Sassafras River to anchor in a little cove near Georgetown. Just after anchoring a yacht pulled up close by and the skipper shouted that he had just returned from visiting London the day before and did we need anything.....we said we needed groceries but he told that the local stores stocked very little. He then very kindly took us to the nearest decent supermarket about 10 miles away in his pickup. Leigh turned out to be a very interesting chap, a retired university professor, now also a retired farmer, he is a keen yachtsman who gave us plenty of ideas of where to head next......hopefully we will meet him again.
