 Papeete marks the half way point in our journey. After the remote & unspoilt islands of French Polynesia our arrival in Tahiti with its cars, shops & busy streets was overwhelming. The Tourist Board gave us a fine welcome & entertained the fleet for two days. There was a Regatta with outrigger canoe racing, an evening reception with Polynesian dancing & a tour of the island to visit the bay where Captain Cook first landed & to see the Gauguin Museum.
