Our planned six day voyage from the Las Perlas Islands took eight days in all and it seemed as if the ocean was trying to put every obstacle in its repertoire in our path, to prevent us reaching our destination. We had 30 to 40 knots of wind on the nose, confused sick inducing seas, a 3 knot current against us, torrential rain storms and sheet lightening. The last thirty six hours we had a flat calm with magnificent sunsets, a full moon lighting up the sea and the heavens full of stars.. It was a great relief to see the islands emerge in the dawn light on day 8 and we soon began to see turtles and iguanas swimming alongside the boat. A frigate bird landed on top of the mast as we sailed into the bay.
