Despite a very pleasant dinner and evening with Tim, Tim and Nancy we departed Five Islands Bay at 05.10 and after motoring for 3 hours we were able to sail goose winged at 6 knots in a style reminiscent of the Atlantic Crossing!

We soon hooked a lovely metre long Mahi-Mahi but just as we were about to gaff it the line broke- another failure compounded by later catching another barracuda!

A beautiful day and sail then we motored the last hour as the wind had died and picked up a free mooring in Anse de Columbier, St.Barths at 17.10 exactly 12 hours from leaving with 72 miles logged.
“Shian” was there and soon Paul and Janie were in the cockpit and we caught up on news.

Columbier is part of the Marine Reserve and the water is clear with lots of turtles and the snorkelling is excellent.
There were 3 shark suckers under ‘Moonbeam’ - presumably hoping they could attach themselves and get a free ride!

A good walk to the village on the North East side of the island was excellent and a stop in a delightful little cafe for lovely fresh fruit juice was welcome but a reminder that we were in St.Barths- they were 6 euros each!

Gustavia was as smart as ever but very few super yachts in the harbour.
