27:17N 15:27W T4 started Thursday 11.30, my fourth transat and Mojomo's
fifth. Wind dead astern and according to our dedicated weather router, the
now world-famous Bollox Weather Forecasting Service, it's likely to stay
that way over the weekend. Well, he said "happy motoring" which could mean
we need to use engines, or it could mean that although we could try sailing,
he suspects that we're using the engine. Which we are. On several transats
I have been very carful with fuel, and arrived at the other end with loads
of the stuff. So this time with no usable wind we've got both Mr and Mrs
Yanmar rumbling away, and doing almost 8 knots.
A very special contact found recently is an ex-crewie of Mojomo, name of
Lou, who crewed on the boat for the previous (first) owner in the Caribbean
for a few weeks in 2007. Hiya Lou! Yes, I bought the boat from him and
here we are going round and round the Atlantic.
We've come south from Lanzarote past Fuerteventura on starboard side, and
then turned westwards a bit, heading on a southerly route towards
Martinique. Last land we saw was Gran Canaria 15 or so miles north just
before dawn. Plan A is to head towards 20N 30W ish and then direct for
Martinique with the trade winds, but depends on what BxWx tells us next.
Plan B is to avoid this massive fishing boat about 3 miles ahead.
