6:32S 99:13W COG 240 SOG 7 Wind F4E (more like ESE i think) DTW 2354nm at
1245 GMT, overcast all yesterday and again this morning.
Rainy and rainstormy last night, sometimes good speed to 12knots, but
eventually we had to pull the spi down cos the wind dropped to F1-2 but the
sock jammed again, then some rope or bit of sail punched me in the face tho
not too bad, so by the time we got it all down we just slung the motor on
and i went back to sleep. Motorsailing now, and the wind has sorted itself
so we'll set some better sails when sleeping is done.
When I first turned on this course on Wednesday the nav calculated that at
that speed we'd be there in another 12days. Two days later and at this new
speed - it now says it'll take another 14days. Sort of like going
backwards, really, darnit. But BxWx is suggesting we'll get 20knot
tradewinds further south, hoorah.
I randomly call up Tempest on Ch16 but no response. I just realised his
boat is called Tempest probably cos he's from Budapest, see? It would also
have been quite boaty to call it BudaCockroach I suppose, same idea,
although perhaps Tempest is better. Or maybe BudaCockroach was already
taken. If I was called Attillla and from Hungary i'd obviously incorporate
some Hun/Hoarde/attilla reference such as erm DunRomans, possibly, but
Attila doesn't seem to "get it" when i introduce him as Attila the Hun
(garian) to others in a bar. He just smiles, shakes hands etc and always
with those lovely Eastern European 1950s/60s-style perfect manners.
