Amongst the arcy boats and people we know are ...
Contessa 32, nice guy skipper John, the boat is full of booze. Teensy bit
(well, a lot) studenty in the tidiness policy, we hope he does well. Dunno
the boat name.
Tucanon is on the World ARC as well. Lagoon flybridge catamaran, it must be
bit scary in these seas up there.
Campechano is fast Catana 47 catamaran, full of Puerto Ricans. In Las
Palmas they all shouted at each other (good humouredly) all day long. I
thought "they all look the same these Puerto Ricans" - but turns out the
older
guys are identical twins and the younger ones are their kids, teehee.
Victory Too, nice guy Anders is on the Big Trip, aiming through Panama, very
capable boat, first time Atlantic but knows what he's doing. One guy on the
pontoon asked if I had an electric jigsaw, and Anders dug one out in
seconds. Pretty good eh?
Rivendell, an Oyster 80 has fun crew on board, stayed in LP for weeks.
Boundless 1 (weird to call a boat "1" isn';t it?) is a nice Aussie family,
planning to tour carib then probably back to Oz. This is the Mojomo
sistership, hull #3, Mojomo is hull #14. He installed a fourth WC on his
boat whilst in LP.
Pelican (the catamaran) were our neighbours for 2 weeks before departure,
and we have exactly the same rating, whatever that means. Paul built the
boat himself, made mould, everything, although he does own a boatyard in UK.
We did the dinghy regatta together with his crew Andy and got drenched.
Jeu D'Esprit is a fast J160. The skipper is a bombastic old bugger from
Beaulieu ("oh, catamaran - shopping trolley eh?" was his opening gambit to
me) but his crew are nice guys. We bought them a Judas Priest CD (Jeu
D'esprit
geddit?). Up close Jd'e is a bit of a wreck, mini m and peely varnish. I
offered to help re-creosote the toerail.
BattCat is a lagoon 38 footer, youngish skipper Jason is on his year off
from city stuff.
LinoCat, also catamaran 38ish is the boat with tiny baby on board.
Moonstruck is an American boat, owner skipper Alan is a Brit.
Fenella with loud-shirted owner skipper Hutch has already been rtw with the
boat on Blue Water rally. Might see him in Antigua.
Sadler 29 is smallest boat in the fleet, owenr skipper Ron (i think) and I
hope he wins overall.
