Mojo to Fiji   Blog 4 Death of a Tilley Hat

Yes sad to report that my Tilley hat is no more, whilste tap dancing on the fore deck yesterday morning, even though the chin strap was in operation I looked down to see it falling towards the water where it was buffeted by the bow of the boat and quickly dissapeared. I was tempted but under full sails there is no going back for me so all that remained was to shed a silent tear to that which had protected my head from so much sun keeping my brain active longer.

Well you have to get your pole out if you want to stay on course particuiarly id the wind is blowing over your starboard quarter, it takes time to attach all the jewellry but once dressed it performes really well and the boat takes on a new dance bobing from port to starboard leaning. We will be rigged like this for a couple of days while we are heading West North West to avoid an active SPCZ thing in 18S 170W which is in the area, for those of you who want to know what this is please feel free to contact  our other crew member  Mr Google as I dont have the time, tonight we had winds up to 23 knots so we have been busy reefing our poled out headsail and boomed out Main sail, yes we have been goose winging again. In lighter winds we would put out the code zero and use the boom as a pole but we want to keep the code for another day and not shred it just yet, it now only fly,s in under 17 knots of wind, period.
Active achievements today we passed the 400 nm target and 3 days sailing time which means that we are now in the zone, sounds impressive hey.
Well I can see that steam is coming out of the kettle so its time for a biscuit break, you guys take care and check in tommorrow.

Mojo on wind watch thru the night........................tea up !!!
