well this is an interesting night gusts to 40 knots and waves to match. It take me back to the previous boat on which some readers will have raced and remember nights of being soaked and lines of oillies hanging up to dry when we finished the race....well i am reliving it now! on a less extreme scale as there are no sleeping bags wet and a wipe over with the floor cloth will sort the small amount of dampness i can see.

The Sierra Nevada mountains were a very impressive sight from the sea though we did not see any of the snow on the tops due to cloud. we are about 70 miles from Cartagena now and the wind has abated and the non stop procession of waves has eased to just the odd one trying to envelope the aft of the boat . Once we are in it will be packing away the working jib which saw us through the night and start on the clearing in process which is a little more complicated here
