Days ashore with a bit of sun are really what Iceland is about.
You climb up the fellside and look down on the little fishing harbour,
and that is a glacier on the sky-line behind.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 The weather is not hot, but climbing beside the stream keeps you warm.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The birds are still surprisingly tame.
 
This is a ptarmigan, the white wings only showed when it finally decided to fly.
 
You worry about disturbing the whimbrels (very like curlews, but a shorter beak) until four gang up on you.
Then you decide they enjoy having something to sing at.
