Calm morning N40:57 W41:48

It was a peaceful night with full sails back up yesterday afternoon.

By this morning it was tropical sunshine, a dying wind but the washing got done.  A full flag halyard line full.
That shows confidence in the water and gas situation, although most was trying to get salt out of things.

The wind finally died at lunchtime and I started the engine and motored for an hour.
That took us through the calm from south easterly to north easterly wind.

We made 87 miles towards the Azores yesterday out of 111 sailed, so not too bad.
See how we get on today.

Only two answers received to yesterday's problem so far:
I understand the Americans are to be lined up along their east coast to blow.

My reading is that this puzzling calm area is a col with low pressure areas NE and SW and high NW and SE.
How to deal with it still looks a mystery.
