Lucky for us that by the time Irene got to Maine she had been down graded to a tropical storm. Nevertheless we had gale force winds with gusts of over 50 knots for 24 hours or more. Somes Sound Harbour proved to be a good choice and no damage was done. The bar across the entrance greatly reduced the swell that had built up in the sound and Robbie's brilliant idea of using our second small anchor as a "chum" on our main anchor chain meant we sat steady and had a more comfortable night than those swinging on the moorings nearby.
24 hours on and a curry party later, with fellow survivors Anthony & Cecilia on Tomia and Clint & Louri on Escourt, we are ready to start our journey back westwards.
