Less “historico” and more beach this time. First stop for coffee at Villaviciosa, a pretty town with excellent coffee. Then on to LLastres which is a small village with a lot of fishing. The harbour is protected from the north but open to swell from the east despite a substantial harbour wall. There is anchoring just to the south and what looked like four yellow mooring buoys.
A lovely harbour beach where we swam and had some lunch——only fools and Englishmen go out in the midday sun!

we even found septipus !

We drove east to Ribadesella, situated at the entrance to a large ria.
There is access to a marina but it is dredged and narrow which became even more apparent as the tide dropped with the large expanse of water suddenly becoming a lot of drying sandbank. Lovely beaches and a walk up to the tiny chapel on the hill overlooking the entrance; disappointingly it was locked.
A delicious supper at the fisherman’s restaurant and then back to Gijon to find diesel, not without a bit of difficulty, and return the car.
