We left Flushing at 1100 on Monday morning and after a brisk start to the Channel crossing thanks to a good westerly wind, the wind died as night approached and we had a most uncomfortable night with a big swell from the recent Atlantic storms mixed with waves from the north west and little wind to steady us as we rolled.
We came down the Chenal du Four and watched the French customs cutter stop a new motor yacht that was on passage to the Med----a boarding party was dispatched in the rib. About an hour later it came past us at speed obviously having been given the all clear despite having a Tunisian boat registration!
Since then progress has been mixed with light winds on the stern, lightning, thunder, and huge fishing fleets to navigate. Wildlife is scarce with only a few gannets but no dolphins.
