The storm passed and we escaped Oban Marina on Tuesday afternoon feeling thoroughly “marinated”.
On the way out we passed another Malo called Nada—this is Nigel Calder’s boat. He wrote the sailors' bibles “Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual” and “Marine Diesel Engines”.
We ran downwind under genny alone to Port Appin and anchored off the Pierhouse Hotel which apart from having an award winning restaurant holds the award for "Scottish Romantic Restaurant of the Year Award”. It would help if it was warmer.
We went ashore in the morning for coffee and a visit to the Community owned shop which, given the size of the local population, was extremely well stocked and run.
The sun made an appearance
After coffee we sailed another ten miles up the loch to Kentallen.
Helen sat in the “warm” sun and sketched.
We are about to go ashore and post the blog and have some supper at the Hollytree Hotel although from the boat it looks fairly deserted as though the season has barely started—not surprising given the amount of recent snow on Ben Nevis.
