After the excitement of the whale watching we walked into town the next day and then set off on the peninsular walk around the headland. This was an excellent 4 hour walk around the headland which was again well laid out with plenty of information boards telling us what to look out for. More seals, a lot of different birds, cattle
limstone rock formations
pre wedding photographs—not sure if he was marrying his dogs or her!
the Noble Caledonia cruise ship
and amazingly clear water—this is looking down from above
and of course a native of NZ
A good walk but having forgotten our water bottles we had to quench our thirst
The following morning we stopped at the Farmers Market

we bought ham from Welsh Saddleback pigs (which we were told were extinct in the UK!), honey, mince pies, bread and brownies, and Christmas pudding.
Mark is amazed at the number of ‘gingas’ in NZ. They are everywhere both young and old but the number of young with red hair is very noticeable——no escaping them here! (Helen thinks it is the Scottish blood)
Then we set off South.
