We thought we would make for Concarneau, last time we went there George led Helen astray as the Ricard girls were offering free booze! We left the River Aven and beat out to sea in order to sail into Benodet Bay, a 15 mile trip. However when we arrived in Concarneau we were sent away as the marina was full and the fishing harbour would not let us stay. So we tacked out into the bay again and finally laid a course towards Benodet. The wind increased as the skies cleared and we beat on towards our destination. Knowing the way water pours out of the Odet river we had to arrive at slack tide, 17.10. We averaged six knots today beating hard the whole time, well done Mark and Marita! 38.8 miles.
