January 9th. A lovely downwind sail to Carriacou, a distance of 11 miles. Carriacou is part of Grenada along with Petite Martinique and Petit St Vincent which we passed along the way.We anchored in Tyrell Bay, which was quite crowded but protected from the wind. Saw Miraculix just ahead of us. As we walked along the shore to the Customs, we saw blue lizards darting for cover under the trees. Also passed the large new "Alexis" supermarket, huge for such a tiny place, and well stocked as we later found out.

After some cooling beers in the Slip Way restaurant bar on the beach, we bought oranges, limes and grapefruit from a lovely local lady called Vena.

The next day we took a local bus round to Hillsborough, the main town. It had lots of small shops and local stalls, but the Botanical Gardens needed a bit of love and attention! We did find a lovely beach front bar called the Kayak Cafe, painted in pastel colours where we enjoyed some great smoothies.

On our final day we had arranged for Simon, our Boat Boy, to take us on a taxi tour of the island. He showed us the Ningo Well, built by the original inhabitants of the island, an old sugar plantation and the town of Windward where (one man) still continues with traditional boat building. Finally, we drove up tothe Princess Royal hospital which has great views across to Grenada.
