Another early morning run across the weir towards Annoplis Royal - the turbulent waters attracting gulls hoping to catch the disturbed fish in an otherwise tranquil water basin.
Kemjimkujik (or "Kemji" to the locals) is a 381 sq km National Park with rolling hills, waterways - a gentle wilderness - beer, deer, porcupine and raccoon are the full-time resident's, park visitors are the transients! Wild flowers abound at the lakeshores - including a rare orchid which takes 3 years for the seed to collect sufficient nutrients before growing leaves and a further two years before flowering! Wooded trails through Hemlock and Hardwoods abound. Another off-road route to Eel Creek and a walk through the woods for a picnic spot..is that a bear across the water.?? Probably not as there was no movement - only a maybe!! However, definitely a frog in the undergrowth! The Mi'kmaq on their seasonal movement would camp along the shores, build bark canoes , and leave the "petroglyphs" - stone scratching of their lifestyle and culture.
Lastly, a coastal route along the Arcadian shore - with a lot of French connections - road signs, flags and natural speakers!
Journey's end back in Yarmouth - 1,650 kms later.a circular tour of part of Novas Scotia ended. Great time!
A short row across the bay (with the wind and tide!) to board Magic Friday. Wind and waves increased to lead to a disturbed night swinging on the bouy. Nevermind, happy on-board!
