A lazy morning - the last of Aunt Jemma's pancake mix, provisions beginning to run low, time to call in to a port soon!!

Early afternoon dinghy ashore to explore Provincetown. The guide was right - one is immediately "assaulted" with shops, restaurants and bars along the aptly named, Commercial Street! And it was crowded - the holiday season had definitely started in Cape Cod! Headed to the 252ft tall monument to commemorate the Pilgrim Fathers' first landing (confirmed in Provincetown on Nov 21 1620 and four years later settled the first colony in Plymouth MA). The monument is the tallest all-granite structure in the United States (the design is patterned after the Torre Del Mangia in Sierra, Italy. 165 steps and 60 platforms later the top affords a magnificent all round view of Cape Cod peninsular, the town, marina and mooring field directly below - worth the "climb"! Interesting museum of how the English religious Puritans became persecuted and known as separatists and eventually travelled on the Mayflower to the new world and then changed again to form Quackers. Back into the town to experience more the holiday and "gay" atmosphere - Provincetown also known as "P-town" with an "edgy" feel similar to Key West! How culture has moved on since the days on the 17th century!!

Evening aboard enjoying another spectacular sunset before the town lights up in a splash of coloured lights for the night's entertainment..!
